Blair-Taylor seventh grade girls win Northwest Tournaments

The Blair-Taylor seventh grade Northwest basketball team traveled to Sparta on Nov. 4 for their first tournament of the season and were victorious in all three of their games to bring home first place beating Sparta 42-16, West Salem 39-24 and C-FC 33-27.

On Nov. 11-12, the girls traveled to Colfax and Altoona to play in the Great Northwest League of Champions Tournament. This was an invitational tournament consisting of the top 32 teams in the league in all WIAA Divisions.

The girls played well on day one going 4-0 defeating Bangor 36-23, Chippewa Falls 38-8, Prairie Farm 46-26 and Iola Scandinavia 27-24.

Day two saw the larger division schools prevail as the girls went 0-3 for a top 25 percent finish of eighth place losing to Lakeland 58-41, Hudson 40-27 and Ladysmith 38-34.

The seventh grade girls finished up 2017 with a tournament in Bangor on Dec. 2. The team went 3-0 for another first place finish defeating Bangor 44-26, Westby 34-29 and Holmen 31-24.

The team is coached by Jayme and Dave Thompson and Andy Kindschy.
