HOLMEN -- Bruce A. McCain, 54, of Holmen, formerly Chester, S.C., passed away peacefully Sunday, May 28, 2017, after a life-long battle with Cystic Fibrosis, with family by his side. Bruce defied the odds, surpassing the average CF lifespan by many years.

He was born Nov. 12, 1962, to Roger and Jane McCain and attended grade school in the Whitehall area. After receiving his degree in biology at UW-L, he went back to school to become a respiratory therapist. Bruce's calling led him to Carolina's Health Care System, where he met a great network of extended family. He was also a part of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church congregation, who loved him dearly. Aside from taking joy in his work, Bruce loved to hunt, fish, be in the great outdoors, and cheer on his Packers.

Bruce is survived by his parents, Roger and Jane McCain of Holmen; his daughter, Kaitlin McCain of Chester, S.C.; his sister, Linda Reedy of Onalaska; nieces, Bridget Reedy, Jennifer (Sam) Reedy/Taylor, and Kelsey Reedy; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family would like to thank Gundersen Hospice Care for their great attention and care. A private service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
