ETTRICK — Charles “Chuck” L. Hoem Jr., 53, of Ettrick, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, after a strong fight against cancer.
Chuck was born June 27, 1964, to Chuck Sr. and Patty Hoem in the Black River Falls Hospital. Chuck married the love of his life, Tammy Ritter, May 9, 1987, and they raised two sons, Kole and Karl Hoem in Ettrick.
Chuck loved spending time with family and friends, especially his two grandchildren. He was a great story teller, loved teasing and pulling pranks to make people laugh. Chuck’s biggest passion all his life was driving semi. He drove for various companies including Ashley Furniture, where he drove over the road and earned his one million mile safe driver award. In August 2014, he bought his first Peterbilt and became and owner/operator, starting up Hoem Trucking. He later bought two more semis that his boys and brother, Jimmy drive. Chuck’s dream was to get back in the semi and drive his cab-over to run locally.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Tammy; two sons, Kole (Ami) Hoem, Karl (Harley) Hoem; two grandchildren, Iver and Vivien Hoem; his mother, Patty; a brother, Jimmy (Vickie) Hoem; a sister, Pam (Dave Wallin) Hoem; mother-in-law, Darlene Ritter; two sisters-in-law, Tanya (Paul) Sonsalla, Cindy Hoem; 13 nieces and nephews; and 14 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Iver and Tillie Hoem, Edwin and Anna Arneson; his father, Chuck Hoem Sr.; two brothers, Rodney and Paul Hoem; a nephew, Brandon Hoem; and his father-in-law, Marxell “Tex” Ritter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, from North Beaver Creek Lutheran Church (Brick), rural Ettrick, with Pastor Dave Hendrickson officiating.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, and one hour prior to service time Saturday at the church.
Chuck will be sadly missed by many.
