BLACK RIVER FALLS/ HIXTON — Charles F. Chenoweth,  97, of Black River Falls and formerly of Hixton died Thursday, June 20, 2013, in the Grand View Care Center in Blair.

Charles was born March 18, 1916, in Hixton to Henry and Estella (Barnes) Chenoweth. He was raised in Hixton and graduated from Hixton High School.

He served in the Army Air Corp.

On Sept. 10, 1942, he married Iola Erickson in Sparta. Charles and Iola were married for 69 years. Iola preceded Charles in death on Jan. 21, 2012.

Charles was the Postmaster in Hixton for many years. He was a TV repairman, school bus driver in Black River Falls, and campground manager in numerous campgrounds.

Chuck and Iola loved to travel and camp. Chuck was involved with the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed playing cards and watching his grandchildren participate in athletics. He was a former member of the Hixton Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are two sons, David (Joan) Chenoweth, Moorhead, Minn., and Patrick (DelRae) Chenoweth, Black River Falls, and two daughters, Nancy (Larry) Folkedahl and Lois Johnson, both of Ettrick, one brother, Lloyd (Margaret) Chenoweth, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Dean Chenoweth,three sisters, Jane Rosenthal Reynolds, Ruth Sanborn, and Mary Goeser.

Memorial funeral services for Charles F. Chenoweth will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, corner of Jefferson and Forest streets, in Black River Falls. Burial with flag presentation will be at Trinity Rest Cemetery in Hixton. Relatives and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the church.

Torgerson’s Funeral Home (715-284-4321) of Black River Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.
