Eleanor Dennison, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, March 3, 2018, at her parental home in La Crosse, where she was born June 11, 1930.
At the early age of seven, she was led to understand her need for Jesus Christ by her mother. He has been her Savior and gentle shepherd throughout her life. A particular joy for Eleanor and her sister, Evelyn, was the honor of caring for their precious mother, Emilie, in their home for many years.
Eleanor was an elementary teacher, having taught in Racine, Wis., St. Louis Park, Minn., and La Crosse, for a total of 31 years. The last 24 years, she had the privilege of working with boys and girls in the same school she attended as a youngster. She retired in 1990.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Talmage and Emilie; and brothers, Talmage Jr. and Lloyd.
She leaves her loving sister, Evelyn of La Crosse; her nieces, Mary (Eugene) Reisner, of DeWitt, Iowa, Arlene Dennison, of Benson, Ariz., Cathy (David) Christy of Valparaiso, Ind., Becky Zupancic of Seminole, Fla.; her nephews, Rod (Setz) Dennison of Medical Lake, Wash., Scott (Peggy) Dennison of Mauston, Wis.; cousin, Corene Dunning of La Crosse; great-nieces and nephews; and many friends she had come to love dearly.
She was a member of Bethany Evangelical Free Church since 1951.
Celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at Bethany Evangelical Free Church, 3936 Cty. Road B, La Crosse, with visitation one hour before. Reception/luncheon following the service. Burial will take place at a later date.
