HOLMEN — Everett C. Hoff, 85, of Holmen died Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at Mulder Health Care Facility in West Salem.

He was born Aug. 13, 1932, to Albert and Amy (Sullivan) Hoff. He was baptized and confirmed at Lewis Valley Lutheran Church in rural Holmen, where he remained a member for the rest of his life. Everett graduated from Holmen High School in 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1953 until 1954, and especially enjoyed the time he was stationed in Alaska. He attended the farm short course at University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated in 1955. After graduation, he began farming on the Hoff family farm in Stevenstown, until his retirement in 1993.

On May 26, 1956, Everett married Ruth Suttie at Hardies Creek Lutheran Church. He spent many years supporting his children and grandchildren at sporting events throughout their years in the Melrose-Mindoro School District. Everett was also a former 4-H and FFA member who continued to support those groups by attending County and State Fairs, where his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren exhibited their projects. He enjoyed watching the Brewers, Packers, Badgers, and La Crosse Loggers.

Everett was active in many different organizations, including a board member at Farmer’s Central Co-op, Riverland Energy delegate, the Gundersen-Gilbertson American Legion Post 507 of Mindoro, Wisconsin Holstein Association, Sons of Norway, Norden Cemetery Association, where he served as secretary/treasurer for 38 years. Everett served his church, Lewis Valley Lutheran Church, over the years as financial secretary, custodian, church council, call and anniversary committees, and usher. He especially enjoyed taking bus trips with his wife, Ruth.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ruth; his children, Paul (Dawn) Hoff, Carmen (Arlan) Stello, Robin Hoff (Tony Peters), and Marie (Todd) Baumer; grandchildren, Jason (Kristi) Hoff, Jennifer (Mark) Jenkinson, Tyler (Jennifer) Stello, Stephanie (Cody) Bettis, and Alyssa and Alec Baumer; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Brooklynne, Nicholas, Hudson; his sisters, Ann Morris, Viola Skogen, and Diane (Jack) Glennie; brothers-in-law, William (Mary) Suttie and John (Leone) Suttie; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Wesley Morris and Thomas Skogan.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct., 6, at Lewis Valley Lutheran Church, W5402 CTH V., Stevenstown, rural Holmen. Pastor Kris Fahey will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post 507 of Mindoro and the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Jostad Chapel, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church.
