GALESVILLE — Joyce Marie Lebakken was born on April 30, 1945, in Galesville, to Alvin and Myrtle (Moen) Lebakken. She was made a child of God and an heir of everlasting life in heaven by means of Holy Baptism as an infant and later confirmed her faith, both at French Creek Lutheran Church, Ettrick. Joyce graduated from the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis in 1965, where she sang in the A Cappella Choir.
She received her degree in nursing from Winona State University. Joyce began playing the trumpet in 7th grade, played with the Galesville and Faribault City Bands and W.S.U. Symphony Band. She sang with the Sweet Adelines and various church choirs. Joyce loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting with her dad and brothers. She spent many hours just enjoying nature. She had a strong love for her nieces, nephews and family members. Blessed be her memory.
She is survived by her sisters, Marlene (Peter) Holm and Janice (Marlin) Miner; sisters-in-law, Alice Lebakken and Bertie Lebakken; and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, La Vonne; and her brothers, Maynard and Ralph.
Services for Joyce will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at the French Creek Lutheran Church, N23007 Cty. Road T, Ettrick. Pastor Anna Sorenson will officiate. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Zwickey Funeral Home Chapel in Galesville and from 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
