Margie Ruth (Bissen) Rohrer passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at the age of 84, at North Shore Healthcare-La Crescent Health Services.
She was born Sept. 23, 1933, to Mike and Irma (Harer) Bissen. Margie attended Brownsville Elementary School and in 1951, she graduated from Caledonia High School. She married the late Ron Rohrer in 1953; they had five children and later divorced.
Before retiring in 1999, Margie was a homemaker and later worked in retail for Sears and Osco Drug and worked in housekeeping at Gundersen Health System and Holiday Inn, all in La Crosse. She was an active member of Zion Evangelical Church and was a member of the VFW Post 6801 Auxiliary, both of Brownsville, Minn.
She is survived by her children, Judy Lange of Caledonia, Minn., Mike (Laura Arzaga) Rohrer of Brownsville, Nancy Davis of Ettrick and Jeff (Lisa Schwidde) Rohrer of Caledonia; daughter-in-law, Deb (Harvey) Ekern of Brownsville; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Harriet and Alma Bissen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Steve Rohrer; son-in-law, Bill Lange; and her brothers, Charles, Edward and Paul Bissen.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at Zion Evangelical Church, Brownsville. The Rev. Stephen Grunlan will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday, at the church. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Caledonia Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
