BLACK RIVER FALLS — Duane “Dewey” Morris Hanson, 78, of Black River Falls passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at Grand View Care Center in Blair.
He was born Sept. 24, 1938, son of Morris and Josie (Berg) Hanson in La Crosse. He married Carol Jean Nortman Feb. 3, 1962. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Black River Falls.
Duane graduated Black River Falls High School in 1956, then joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1956 until 1959. After his military service, he was employed by the Black River Falls Utilities for 32 years, retiring as a line foreman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening.
Duane is survived by his wife, Carol Hanson; son, Michael (Kristi) Hanson of Alma Center, Wis.; daughter, Linda (Bruce) Alcorn of Stillwater, Minn.; four grandchildren, Nicole (Luke) Thompson of Merrillan, Wis., Lindsey (Nick Bradley) Hanson of Hixton, Ben Alcorn of Stillwater, and Sam Alcorn of Stillwater; brother-in-law, Fred Nortman of Black River Falls; sister-in-law, Kay Paar of Black River Falls; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Hanson; and brother-in-law, Jerry Paar.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 9, at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Black River Falls. Military honors will take place outside of the church after services.
