Ruth Marie McGough Ray, died peacefully on Friday, July 27, 2012, at her home in La Crosse, Wis. She was born on June 19, 1929, in Seneca, S.D., to John and Catherine Vopat McGough. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Hal; children, Steven and wife June of Broadus, Mont., Kevin and wife Jane of La Crosse, Wis., Brian and wife Mindy of Cottonwood, Ariz., Colin and wife Karen of Nashville, Tenn., and Lisa and husband Michael of Minneapolis, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Peter; two sisters, Kathleen and Loretta; and a brother, Don.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Roncalli Newman Center, 1732 State St., La Crosse. The Rev. Alan Wierzba will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Highmore, S.D. Friends and family may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Monday, July 30, from 5 to 7 p.m., where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m., and again at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials are preferred to the Arthritis Foundation.
