Music and wine have always gone together, says Train guitarist Jimmy Stafford. For the past two years, the Grammy-winning band has teamed up with Concannon Winery to produce its own line of wines that began with Drops of Jupiter.

The newest entry takes its name from a line in the band’s song “Save Me, San Francisco.” Proceeds from the wine sales go to a San Francisco charity that provides temporary housing to families with ill children.

While not exceptional, it is a fine merlot, with notes of cedar and tobacco giving way to berry fruit flavors with balanced tannins.

Sherry: “Medium-bodied with cherry and green apple flavors and a floral finish.” 3 stars

Chris: “Cigar box and vanilla bouquet with flavors of blackberry, plum and cherry.” 3 stars

Available locally from $8 to $11.

Coming next week: Gascon Colosal Red Blend
