Charles Krug was a 27-year-old Prussian immigrant who started the first winery in the Napa Valley in 1861 and the first tasting room in 1882.
Operated today by the Mondavi family, the grapes for this vintage come from the Carneros region, which includes parts of both Napa and Sonoma counties. Cool fog and ocean breezes make the region a favorite for both pinot noir and chardonnay.
This wine is half barrel-fermented and aged on the lees, making it medium-bodied with orchard fruit and tropical fruit flavors.
Sherry: “Flavors of citrus lime and pineapple with a hint of almond on the finish.” (3.25 stars out of 5)
Chris: “A pineapple bouquet with flavors of apricot and pineapple and a smooth finish.” (3.5 stars out of 5)
Available from $15 to $18.
