A silky wine is soft and caresses your taste buds. That’s the goal of Silk Oak wines, a label with different varieties from Oak Ridge Winery in Lodi, Calif.
Chardonnay is an extremely versatile grape ranging from crisp and light in unoaked form to big and buttery when it’s fully oaked and refermented.
This version tries to find a happy medium. It’s a blend of stainless steel fermentation and oak aging that keeps the orchard and tropical fruit flavors but shows light oak influences.
Sherry: “Smooth and fruity, with light lemon and lime flavors with faint butter on the finish.” (3.25 stars out of 5)
Chris: “A hint of butterscotch on the nose with flavors of pineapple, apricot and lemon and a slight creamy finish.” (3.5 stars out of 5)
