It’s always fun to discover new grape varieties and this is the perfect time of year to enjoy this refreshing super summer sipper.
Vermentino is an Italian grape group mainly on the island of Sardinia. While Italy and France have most of the world’s supply, vermentino is also grown in the U.S. and in Australia, where this wine hails.
Known as an alternative to sauvignon blanc, this pale-colored South Australian selection is crisp and tart with gripping acidity. Its high level of phenols gives it a pleasant almond-like finish.
Sherry: “Citrus and tart, with flavors of lime and grapefruit and almond on the finish.” (3.25 stars out of 5)
Chris: “Flavors of lime, gooseberry and kiwi with a fresh and zesty finish.” (3.5 stars out of 5)
Available from $11 to $14.
