The fourth annual free Winter Wellness Carnival, featuring good, games and prizes, will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the La Crosse County Administration Center at 212 N. Sixth St. in La Crosse.

Hosting the carnival, open to families with children younger than 5, are La Crosse County WIC’s Fit Families Program to host this event in conjunction with Head Start Child and Family Development Centers, which includes La Crosse, Monroe, Vernon and Crawford counties. Several businesses also are supporting the event.

Anyone interested in receiving WIC services should call the WIC office at 608-785-9865. Appointments are available for pregnant, breastfeeding and post-partum women, infants and children up to age 5.

Fit Families is a behavior change program aimed at families with children 2 to 4 years of age enrolled in WIC projects in Wisconsin.

Those interested in services at Head Start, a free federal- and state-funded, private, nonprofit organization serving 3- to 5-year-old preschool children and their families, should call 608-785-2070.
