Allcav , your parents should have hit the abort button. I had to make this account just to say that

It seems the shelter is full of cats and pit bulls. Pit bulls attack people and other dogs. One in Nevada just killed an infant. Cats are not controlled. They aren't neutered, vaccinated, or registered as are dogs. Wake up, people, that's why there are so many of them. No enforcement of laws (My cat never goes outside, you say). Rubbish. Pit bulls can be gentle if properly raised. Rubbish. Enforce the laws with cats and just remove pit bulls from the earth.

I agree and share your concerns about the influx of pit bulls and rottweilers into our neighborhoods where there are children, day care centers, elder folks walking. All the while the owners do not get their dogs trained and also, the owners are often unable to manage these dogs while walking them. I recently saw a young girl being literally dragged down a nearby street by a rottweiler/pit bull type dog. Is this the doing of our 'Humane Society' which is perhaps bringing them into our city through rescue from 'kill' public dog pounds? If that's so you must put a stop to this. This week alone I counted

This weekend alone I counted 12 in and around our neighborhood. Examining the stats regarding deadly dogs and those 2 top the list by a HUGE MARGIN! Someone in out Coulee Region Humane Society is making poor decisions - or somewhere else. This will most assuredly curtail the enjoyment of our city streets as summer comes on now and we have to fear these awful, dangerous dogs on our streets. And all you defenders out there, the stats do not speak well about their appropriateness for families and neighborhoods - they KILL!! and MAIM!

Gabe is a huge cat and I don't mean overweight. Calvin is a going to make someone a wonderful dog but he needs someone with strength and patience as he has no manners.
