The Department of Children and Families unveiled its first online listing of YoungStar providers that identifies those who provide excellent care for children.
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Campus Child Center, 1601 Badger St., and Head Start Child and Family Development Centers, 333 Buchner Place, made the list released Thursday.
“These providers have already been recognized as providing the best care for kids,” Reggie Bicha, DCF secretary, said in a news release.
“Parents can feel confident that the education their children receive in these facilities is top notch and is provided by trained teachers who have a passion for helping children realize their potential,” Bicha said.
Providers included in the listing released Thursday have already met rigorous accreditation standards that require on-site observations, quality improvement planning and establish higher education levels for teachers and program directors.
The department last week released a request for proposal for six regional entities to manage YoungStar. Duties would include conducting evaluations and providing training and technical assistance.
Parents can use the new YoungStar website to find child care providers statewide that have been identified as providing excellent care for children. The site is dcf.wisconsin. gov/youngstar.
