The Wisconsin state Senate plans to debate a bill today that will legalize the carrying of concealed weapons.

Wisconsin and Illinois are the only states that currently do not allow for carrying concealed weapons.

The bill would require a person who wants to carry a hidden gun to first get a permit from the state.

People would generally be allowed to carry concealed anywhere except in police stations, prisons, jails, state mental hospitals, courthouses or buildings with signs banning concealed weapons. Business owners also could post signs banning weapons.

Gov. Scott Walker supports the bill, which also would have to pass the Assembly before it heads to the governor. - The AP
