Prosecutors Thursday charged a third man with sexually assaulting the same girl in 2015.
Joshua Ward Jr., 19, of La Crosse raped the victim while she was living on King Street in June, according to the complaint filed in La Crosse County Circuit Court.
Hours earlier, her boyfriend at the time, 20-year-old Elijah Burks, and Heavell Basley, 18, raped her simultaneously after Burks slammed her to the ground and threatened to kill her, the complaint stated. The victim said Burks demanded that she have sex with Ward.
The victim also said Burks repeatedly forced sexual contact, battered her and strangled her to unconsciousness that summer, according to the complaint.
Ward was charged with first-degree sexual assault. Burks, of Sparta, was charged in February with two counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of second-degree sexual assault and Basley, of La Crosse, in March with first-degree sexual assault.
Basley is jailed on a $10,000 cash bond and Ward on $1,000. Burks is free on a $1,000 signature bond.
Ward in March 2017 entered into a two-year diversion agreement for second-degree sexual assault of a child. In that case, a 12-year-old girl said Ward sexually assaulted her during the summer of 2015 at a friend’s house on South Fifth Avenue after she fled juvenile detention, according to the complaint.
Basley, Ronald Crosby Jr., 17, and Dominique Hister, 15, are charged as part of an October gang rape of two teenage girls at 814 S. 19th St. that involved as many as 11 males.
Circuit Judge Gloria Doyle on Tuesday forfeited Crosby’s $1,500 cash bond after he failed to comply with house arrest and exclusion zone restrictions. He is jailed on a $7,500 cash bond.
Hister is jailed on a $10,000 cash bond.
