An Iowa woman stopped for a traffic violation Tuesday was arrested on identity theft charges after police allegedly found numerous stolen ID cards in her possession.

Sheila Ross, 32, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, was taken into custody by a Crawford County (Wis.) deputy after being stopped on Highway 82 in the town of Freeman, the Sheriff's Office said.

The report said Ross was nervous and not answering questions correctly, so the deputy investigated a little more and discovered she was allegedly in possession of numerous false ID cards, all with different names and states, but with her photo attached.

"The false ID cards had corresponding blank checks in the same name," said Sheriff Dale McCullick. "She had numerous other items relating to ID theft, fraud and larceny."

A computer check showed Ross had an outstanding warrant for larceny in Iowa.

"It appeared she was committing these crimes in numerous cities and states," McCullick said.
