A former Hillsboro man faces 80 years in prison after he was convicted in Vernon County Circuit Court of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl, according to the district attorney’s office.

A jury on Jan. 18 found Mark K. Anderson, 20, guilty of two sexual assault charges, including repeated acts of sexual assault. He was acquitted of child enticement after 2½ hours of deliberations during a three-day trial.

Anderson assaulted the girl more than 20 times in Vernon, Monroe and Juneau counties during a two-year span, according to the DA’s office.

He will be sentenced March 13.
