La Crosse police are looking for a 24-year-old man charged with raping a 14-year-old girl whose family he was staying with.

According to a criminal complaint, the girl told police she was sleeping in her bed on Oct. 8 when she awoke to find Christopher T. Davis raping her. She said he then rolled onto the floor by her bed, where he went to sleep.

The girl told relatives, who “beat up” Davis and told him to leave. Her father told police Davis had been staying with them for about 2 months and was supposed to be sleeping in a spare room.

Davis was charged last week with sexual assault of a child under 16, which carries a maximum sentence of 40 years.

Police believe Davis fled to Milwaukee but has since gone to Mississippi. There is a warrant for his arrest.
