A show choir co-director for the La Crosse School District is jailed and facing charges that accuse him of sexually assaulting a student.
Dustin Bagstad, 33, of La Crosse faces charges of second-degree sexual assault of a child, repeated second-degree sexual assault of the same child and sexual assault of a student by school staff when he appears Friday in La Crosse County Circuit Court.
Bagstad, a part-time employee, is on administrative leave and is not allowed to have contact with students or be on school property, Superintendent Randy Nelson wrote in a letter to parents.
Counselors and social workers are available for students, parents and staff.
Bagstad also serves as the director of marketing and development at Saint Anne of Winona, which provides assisted living, rehab services and respite care. He is on administrative leave, administrator Jodi Barton said.
Holmen police on Monday arrested Timothy Schilling, an educational assistant at Holmen High School, for sexually assaulting a child who is not a student in the district.
Schilling, 47, of La Crosse will appear in court next week for first-degree sexual assault of a child, repeated sexual assault of the same child and child abuse.
Schilling is on unpaid leave and his employment is under review, according to the district. He cannot have contact with students or be on school district property.
