Criminal charges are pending against a La Crosse man accused of assaulting his grandmother's boyfriend and shooting a BB gun at police early Sunday, according to La Crosse police reports.
The tenant of a home on the 300 block of South Ninth St. reported that Joey Bolstad, 23, had smashed a window of the house. Officers were waiting for Bolstad when he returned to the home he shares with his grandmother on the 700 block of Ferry St. about 2:45 a.m.
Officers heard glass shattering and two men yelling before the boyfriend of Bolstad's grandmother emerged from the front door shirtless with a small amount of blood on his chest shouting, "Come in! He's crazy," reports stated.
Bolstad was standing in the living room aiming what police though was a shotgun at an officer's head. The officer heard the gun click, but it was empty, reports stated.
Bolstad was arrested after dropping the weapon.
The grandmother's boyfriend reported Bolstad assaulted him with a chair and threatened to kill him before police arrived.
Bolstad is in the La Crosse County Jail on charges of intimidation of a victim, endangering safety with use of a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct while armed, battery and criminal damage to property.
