La Crosse police are looking for a man in connection with a stabbing on the city’s North Side early March 11.

Davonte Owens, 23, is accused of stabbing his girlfriend’s estranged husband in the leg during an argument in the 800 block of Hagar Street, according to police reports. Owens and Amanda Bakalars, 30, left the victim bleeding in the street before officers found him on the sidewalk yelling for help.

The victim, 34-year-old Daniel Bakalars, was treated at a local hospital.

Owens fled from the AmericInn in West Salem early Thursday before police arrived.

Amanda Bakalars faces a charge of first-degree recklessly endangering safety while armed as party to the crime when she appears Wednesday La Crosse County Circuit Court.

Owens is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the La Crosse police at 608-785-5962 or the La Crosse Area Crime Stoppers at 608-784-TIPS.
