ONALASKA — Construction will begin next week on a new Party City store that’s expected to open about June 20 in the Crossing Meadows Shopping Center in Onalaska.
The new 13,000-square-foot store will replace the 9,000-square-foot Party City store between Target and Kohl’s in the Pralle Center in Onalaska, which will close Feb. 15.
The new Party City will have up to 25 employees, compared with 15 at the current store, company spokesman Jarryd Boyd said.
There are no plans to operate a store at a temporary location between the closing of the current one and the opening of the new one, he said.
“The new location is more centrally located and easy to access from the interstate, creating a better shopping experience for customers,” Boyd said.
The new store will have a new layout with dynamic merchandising displays, Boyd said.
“The new location has a Candy City, Mega Favors, Sports City, personalization studio and expanded aisles for a great shopping and celebration experience,” he said.
The new Party City will be built in the parking area between Panera Bread and the Hallman Lindsay Paints store, said Tony Szak of TCI Architects, Engineers, Contractor Inc., the project’s general contractor. Construction work will begin next week, he said.
Dave Skogen, whose family owns the Festival Foods store in the Crossing Meadows center, said he welcomes the addition to Crossing Meadows. “They draw a lot of traffic,” Skogen said of the party supply retailer.
With headquarters in Rockaway, N.J., Party City has more than 800 stores in the United States and Puerto Rico.
