An Eau Claire man’s retirement just got a little easier.
Richard Ingles, 71, of Eau Claire stepped forward recently to validate his $2 million winning Powerball ticket at the Wisconsin Lottery headquarters in Madison and walked away with a lump sum of $1.3 million after taxes.
Ingles matched all of the Feb. 13 winning Powerball numbers except the Powerball itself. He also purchased the Power Play prize multiplier, which doubled the usual $1 million prize.
This is only part of his family’s good luck over the years. Ingles said he made it through the Vietnam War without injury and enjoyed a career with Boeing that let him travel the world.
That good fortune has also extended to their health: five years ago, Ingles received a life-saving liver transplant, and his wife Lillian recovered from a coma after complications from a knee replacement surgery.
Ingles purchased his winning ticket at Kwik Trip on West MacArthur Avenue in Eau Claire, which will receive $40,000 for selling that ticket.
