MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Department of Tourism is gearing up for fall.
The department will begin weekly updates starting Thursday on the progress of Wisconsin's 16 million acres of forests as they change colors over nine or 10 weeks.
The updates will be on the travelwisconsin.com site and will be e-mailed weekly to subscribers.
The page on fall colors was one of the department's three most popular last fall, with nearly 215,000 visiting it.
Travelers spent more than $2.8 billion in Wisconsin from September to November last year, making it the state's second busiest season after summer.
There are 100 people reporting fall colors in Wisconsin's 72 counties.
