More than 800 students from 10 La Crosse area elementary schools will flock to Myrick Park in Thursday and Friday, as well as May 24 and 25, for the annual Storytelling in the Park event.

The La Crosse Storytelling Festival and the Bluff Country Tale Spinners host the annual end-of-school event.

Featured storytellers include Sara Slayton, Terry Visger, Peter Peterslie, Teri Wachuta and Mary Cepek. Each group of students will listen to stories for 30 minutes and then have an opportunity to play at Kids Coulee and celebrate the end of the school year.

I hope they tell the story of the Eco Park group that destroyed the park, and take the kids in the junk yard that used to be the zoo.

No kidding; they get 30 minutes of stories and get to play in an empty sand lot where before they would have been entertained for hours at the old Myrick Park Zoo.

"Eco park". Hilarious.
