I find it unbelievable that the news media hasn’t covered the continuing story of the Fukushima nuclear catastrophe, which at this point is worse than Chernobyl, Three Mile Island, and Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The fallout and radioactive burden spewing across the globe fills the air and oceans.
Sixteen months later, we act as though everything is just fine. It isn’t.
In Unit 4, there is a pool with 1,500 rods suspended at the top of the building just waiting to come crashing down from the damage done before, and a little seismic activity is all it will take.
Uranium byproducts can kill for 4.5 billion years, roughly the age of the Earth. Should this pool fall, it will has the potential to harm every living thing on Earth.
There is no international effort taking place to get these rods to a safe place. There are 23 of these Mark I nuclear plants in the United States alone, and many more across the globe.
The international political inability to deal with this a sad chapter in mankind.
