Minnesota Sen. Al Franken was quoted recently as saying he “feels terribly that I’ve made some women feel badly.”

Ironically enough, his misuse of the adverbs “terribly” and “badly” condemns him.

Since “feel” is a verb which may require a predicate adjective, terrible is the correct word to describe his mental state. When he makes it into “terribly,” it modifies “feel” indicating that his sense of touch is faulty.

Yes, Sen. Franken, your sense of touch is defective.
