This letter is in response to the passing of the La Crescent referendum.
We need to think of those who can't afford a tax increase. Just because someone doesn't want a tax increase doesn't mean they wish ill on the school system. Perhaps they prefer to support a private school.
Other schools are charging tuition to students who are outside of the district. Also, school districts are allowed to ask for voluntary donations and engage in fundraising.
Has any of this been done? Just because you own land you shouldn't have to fund the referendum more than people living in town.
