While visiting the National FLW bass fishing tournament located on Clinton Street, I observed how tacky and overgrown the enclosure was that housed a metering station located on La Crosse property at the entrance to Nakomis Avenue.
The tournament brought in more than 300 FLW anglers and their families and friends to our area. The face that we put forth was a disgrace.
I contacted Andrea Richmond, our council representative around mid-August and asked if we could arrange for a meeting to discuss this matter.
We did meet and she set in motion a plan to get the Parks and Forestry Departments involved. Jay Odegaard, Dan Trussoni and Den Henke did a great job of removing overgrown trees, mulched the area and then placed two planters with flowers near the enclosure. An outstanding effort.
I was advised that this was a temporary measure due to the lateness of the season and that a more permanent beautifying project will take place next year. Thanks again for a job well done.
