Child abuse is a topic that people don’t like to talk about. However, it is a topic that we need to talk about.
Studies have shown that one in five kids in Wisconsin will be abused by age 18. One in five.
I work at a daycare that has about 100 kids. That means if this daycare were the state average, 20 of those kids will be abused by the time they turn 18.
Let’s examine this stat to the state. There are roughly 259,000 kids under the age of 18 in Wisconsin. That means that’s 51,826 kids are abused in Wisconsin.
The National Clearinghouse on Child Abuse and Neglect estimates that only about 3 percent of child molesters are ever caught. These arbitrary deadlines do more than just take away a child’s chance for justice in court but they also endanger the rest of the community.
Research has shown that pedophiles will continue to seek new victims. It has shown that child molesters will have 80 to 100 victims over a lifetime.
I am writing because the kids of Wisconsin need your help. There is a bill that is being proposed to eliminate the statute of limitation on child sex abuse called Child Victim Act.
Please help them today by calling your state legislator and offering your support this bill.
