Dr. Ron Malzer's Opinion Page piece in Sunday's La Crosse Tribune tells us about Pope Francis's 2015 encyclical regarding the worship of wealth.
Pope Francis, it turns out, is against gathering wealth at the expense of our brothers and sisters and at the expense of nature. I agree with Dr. Malzer's opinion.
Perhaps the idea would have more credence, however, if its support came from someone other than the leader of the wealthiest business on Earth. The pope has at his disposal literally billions and billions of dollars in structural assets, fine art and real estate. The pope could quickly and effectively address many of the issues for which he claims concern. My advice: Sell a cup, feed a nation.
