I was swimming the other morning and discussing the results of the Alabama election. One gentleman said he was not happy because of "all the drama."

"About the sexual inappropriateness?" I asked.

"Yeah," he said, and then he said something about women as "temptresses" and that emotionality "gets us nowhere."

I told him not to use that word as it was derogatory for women, making it sound like all this brouhaha was women's fault.

Since I am 69 and have heard lots of things being blamed on women — from abuse to sexual predation — I swam away and decided to write this letter to the editor. The time has come for women to be taken seriously and for predators to be recognized and to be blamed.

In conclusion, I say: "Roy Moore, please don't take the election results out on your horse."
