The people of Wisconsin have been subjected to a large amount of political fearmongering regarding the wolf. This rhetoric is to create hate and fear to gain support for the delisting of the wolf as endangered.
It would be best to let scientific fact and the input of the public be the deciding factors in determining the fate of our Wisconsin wolves.
Recently, Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., held a meeting on short notice in Spooner, inviting only people that were in favor of delisting the wolf, and failing to inform the rest of his constituents about the meeting.
His aides held the Aug. 16 meeting with the purpose of building support for Senate Bill 1514, the HELP for Wildlife Act, for which Johnson is a co-sponsor. The bill calls for delisting the wolf, and has a rider attached to prevent judicial review of the decision.
Holding a meeting that denies access to all of the public is rigging the system. This meeting in no way represents the will of the people. Instead, it represents the will of a politician with a deceitful agenda.
