The Democrats are going to be forced to deal with the infamous wall other than just saying “no” if there is even a little hope of Congress accomplishing anything.
I suggest they take the approach that Congress should for all new or expanded ventures, regardless of the party sponsoring them: If it if is actually worth doing, we must be wiling to pay for it.
Rather than fund an initiative with national debt or by cutting safety net programs, there needs to be a specific tax -- in this case, a wall tax. I would suggest it be on luxury items and high-end electronics. But given President Trump’s “America First” mantra, maybe he would prefer it on imports.
We can’t cut taxes and add programs. It’s not fair to our youth. Because nothing good will happen unless we get the wall out of the way.
The Democratic position should be to reluctantly support the wall if there is a specific tax for that purpose.
We need to move on.
