The Tribune printed an article from the Wisconsin State Journal (Monday Tribune), “Class aims to prevent falls; Wisconsin has high risk of falls.”
Wisconsin’s death rate from falls is second highest among the states. Every 11 seconds an older adult is treated in the emergency room for a fall. Every 19 minutes an older adult dies from a fall.
Friday is the National Falls Prevention Day, and the local Falls Prevention Coalition is hosting an event at First Presbyterian Church 223 West Ave,, Lacrosse from 9 a.m. to noon.
The event is free and no registration required.
You can learn what’s your risk of falling and how to reduce your risk; what to do after a fall and the many fall prevention resources available in La Crosse County.
I urge anyone concerned about falling to take time and attend.
