The year 2017 was not a good one for the environment, for the Affordable Care Act and for non-wealthy taxpayers.
President Trump has done his best to promote further global warming by denying it exists, by withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord, by pushing coal instead of alternative energy, etc. According to the NASA government website, 16 of the 17 warmest years on record occurred since 2001. Our recent cold weather is just that – a short period of cold weather. The world is in grave danger due to global warming and the president has done his best to fill his administration’s positions with climate-change skeptics.
Trump and his Republican allies limited the enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act, slashed funding for informing the public about the enrollment period, and eliminated the individual mandate which will cause an increase in premiums for those who do enroll. What do Trump and his allies have against people getting health insurance?
The Republican’s tax “reform” act is nothing but a giant tax break for corporations and wealthy individuals. In the past, the Republicans were complaining about the increasing national debt. Under the new tax law the national debt will increase dramatically. Hopefully the middle class will not be fooled by a slight increase in their paychecks in 2018 and will think about how much their taxes could be reduced (or how many good programs could be saved) if corporate taxes and taxes on the wealthy were not cut.
