University of Wisconsin men's hockey goaltender Kyle Hayton was one of 20 players named Thursday to the watch list for the 2018 Mike Richter Award.
The honor, whose namesake is a former Badgers goaltender who went on to star in the NHL, recognizes the most outstanding goalie in Division I men's hockey.
Hayton, who completed a graduate transfer to UW this season, was a finalist for the 2015 award when he was a freshman at St. Lawrence.
He was a second-team All-American in the East Region last season, when he had a .929 save percentage and 2.28 goals-against average.
For his career, including the Badgers' 3-2 victory over Michigan Tech in last Sunday's season opener, he has a .934 save percentage and 2.09 goals-against average.
The watch list, which didn't include freshmen, had two other goalies from Big Ten Conference schools: Penn State sophomore Peyton Jones and Minnesota junior Eric Schierhorn.
Denver senior Tanner Jaillet, the 2017 award winner, also is among the players listed.
