A series split at No. 7 Minnesota gave the University of Wisconsin men's hockey team a boost in the national rankings.

The Badgers moved up two spots to No. 12 in the USCHO.com Division I men's poll on Monday.

They defeated the Golden Gophers 3-2 on Saturday in Minneapolis after a 5-4 loss on Friday.

UW was one of five Big Ten Conference teams in the rankings. Its next opponent, Notre Dame, was No. 4 and received one first-place vote.

The Gophers remained No. 7. Penn State rejoined the rankings at No. 18 after sweeping Ohio State, which fell four spots to 11th.

Denver, St. Cloud State and Clarkson were the top three for the second straight week.
