University of Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst was named a finalist Friday for the Dodd Trophy, given annually to the nation's top college football coach "who embodies the award's three pillars of scholarship, leadership and integrity, both on and off the field."

Chryst led the Badgers to a 12-1 record and an Orange Bowl invite this season. He owns a 33-7 record in three years as UW's head coach.

The other finalists are Northwestern's Pat Fitzgerald, UCF's Scott Frost, Miami's Mark Richt, Stanford's David Shaw, Georgia's Kirby Smart and Clemson's Dabo Swinney.

Chryst is also a finalist for the Paul Bryant Coach of the Year Award.
