WINONA, Minn. — The Viterbo University men’s basketball team shot 35 percent from the floor in a 78-59 exhibition loss to Winona State on at McCown Gymnasium Monday night.

Logan High School graduate Cody Hoeth led the V-Hawks with 10 points, while Cade Anderson and Jason Tichy each scored nine points.

Corey Jeffs led Winona State with 28 points. He made 10 shots from the floor, and six of them came from behind the 3-point line.

Viterbo trailed 36-23 at the half.

Onalaska graduate Noah Fredrickson scored eight points off the bench for Viterbo. He made both 3-pointers that he attempted, which came in the second half.

Former Central forward Adam Haberman scored seven points and had a team-high nine rebounds for the V-Hawks, who officially open their season Wednesday at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Sparta graduate Cade Anderson had nine points on 3-for-10 shooting and pulled down six rebounds.

The V-Hawks were 9-for-24 from the 3-point line, and made 8 of 12 free throws. Winona State shot 44 percent from the floor and 42 percent from 3-point territory.

The V-Hawks scored 18 points in the paint, and had eight second-chance points.

Viterbo, an NAIA program, remains winless against the Warriors in five tries all-time. The Warriors compete at the NCAA Division II level.
