The La Crosse Loggers used a five-run bottom of the first inning to score a 9-4 Northwoods League victory over the St. Cloud Rox at Copeland Park on Monday.

Designated hitter Andrew Tanous was 3-for-4 with four RBI to lead the Loggers (29-37 overall, 15-17 second half) in front a reported crowd of 2,884 people.

Tanous made his biggest contribution with a three-run double in the first inning. La Crosse scored all of its runs after the second out was recorded, and Tanous doubled to right field to score Korey Lee, Garrett Christman and Dashon Moore.

Cody Ebert pitched six innings and held the Rox to two runs on five hits. He struck out five, walked two and improved his season record to 4-5. Neil Lang and Grant Ford took care of the last three innings, and Ford struck out three batters.

Jake Hirabayashi, Christman and Moore also drove in a run apiece for the Loggers, who host St. Cloud again on Wednesday.

The Major League Dreams Showcase takes place Tuesday in Madison.
