The La Crosse Loggers used a standout pitching performance from left-hander Ryan Anderson, then key hits from Jorge Guiterrez and Mitchell Morimoto to defeat the Eau Claire Express 5-3 Thursday night before a crowd of 2,995 at Copeland Park.

La Crosse, which improved to 5-8 in the second half and 19-28 overall, travels to Eau Claire (6-7, 21-28) today to face the Express in a 7:05 p.m. game at Carson Park.

Anderson, a freshman left-hander from the University of Nevada, allowed just two hits and one run over six innings. He struck out four and walked two to earn the win. Anderson was relieved by Grant Ford, who allowed two runs in two innings before giving way to Charlie Fletcher.

Fletcher earned the save, striking out three and walking one in tossing the ninth.

Guiterrez, a freshman catcher from Texas A&M, smashed a two-run home run in the bottom of the second to put La Crosse on top 2-0. Cameron Blake followed with a solo shot, making it 3-0.

Eau Claire would answer with one run in the third, but the Loggers pushed across two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 4-1. Morimoto, a junior from Arizona, laced a two-run single in the fourth and went 2-for-5 on the night.
