Bangor vs. Black Hawk

MADISON — The Bangor High School football team beat Black Hawk 37-14 at Camp Randall Stadium on Thursday morning to become a WIAA Division 7 state champion for the second time in three years.

Sophomore Carter Horstman scored three touchdowns, and senior Luke Reader rushed for 185 yards and scored twice to lead the Cardinals (14-0) to their 40th win in 41 games.

Reader has a 57-yard touchdown run and Horstman a 52-yarder in the first quarter to give Bangor a 16-0 lead. The Warriors battled back and were with 16-14 when the Cardinals stuffed a two-point conversion in the third quarter to maintain the lead.

Black Hawk (13-1) had a drive late in the second quarter ended by a Caleb Miedema interception in the end zone.

Horstman rushed for 144 yards on 11 carries and made nine solo tackles while assisting on eight more.
