The Onalaska High School football team, which forced a three-way tie for the MVC championship on Friday night, has earned a No. 3 seed in Division 3 for the upcoming WIAA playoffs.
The Hilltoppers (8-1) will host sixth-seeded Mosinee (5-4) in Friday's first round. West Salem (7-2), another part of the MVC championship picture, earned a No. 4 seed in the same bracket and hosts fifth-seeded New Richmond (6-2).
Holmen (7-2), the third piece of the MVC championship, is seeded fourth in Division 2 and hosts Marshfield (6-3) in the first round. Eight-seeded Central (5-4) travels to top-seeded Menomonie (9-0) in the same bracket.
Bangor (9-0), which won a Division 7 state championship and advanced to the semifinals a year ago, is seeded second in its bracket. Edgar (9-0), which beat Bangor in the semifinals and won a state title last year, is seeded first. The Cardinals host Royall (4-5) in Friday's first round.
De Soto (6-3), which is in a different Division 7 grouping, is seeded sixth and begins the playoffs by playing at Wauzeka/Seneca (8-1).
Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau (9-0) was given a No. 3 seed in its Division 4 bracket and begins by hosting Maple Northwestern (6-3) in the first round. Osceola (9-0) was given the top seed and St. Croix Central (8-1) the second seed in that group of eight.
Melrose-Mindoro (8-1) earned a No. 1 seed in Division 6 and will host Lake Holcombe/Cornell (4-5) to kick off its playoff season.
Brookwood (7-2) is seeded sixth in a different Division 6 group and travels to third-seeded Mineral Point (7-2).
Prairie du Chien (7-2) is seeded fourth in Division 5 and hosts fourth-seeded New Glarus/Monticello (6-3). Sixth-seeded Westby (5-4) opens at third-seeded Lancaster (7-2).
