After a tough five-set loss to Onalaska ended its 20-match MVC win streak, the Aquinas High School volleyball team rebounded in a big way Tuesday night as it swept Central 25-13, 25-15, 25-18 game to once again take over the top spot in the MVC.

Aquinas moved to 8-1 in MVC action, while Holmen — which was idle on Tuesday — is at 7-1.

“The loss was good for us, we needed a gut check and it gave us a sense of purpose to be back in the gym and it showed us what we needed to go to go forward,” Aquinas coach Danielle George said.

Lexi Donarski led the Blugolds (13-6, 8-1) with 18 kills and three aces while Claire Dolan totalled 19 assists with seven digs.

Danielle Cagle finished with 13 digs for Central while Autumn Paulson added eight assists and Abbie Dumalen 5 kills.

Onalaska 3, Logan 1

After a tough four-set loss to Holmen on Monday, the Hilltoppers bounced back to defeat Logan, 25-16, 25-27, 26-24, 25-12.

Emma Gamoke turned in another strong all-around performance to lead Onalaska (5-4). The senior smashed 24 kills, recorded three aces, and had four digs. Sam Plantz chipped in 19 kills while Elisa Dabrowski recorded 26 assists for the Hilltoppers.

Marissa Kleman had seven kills, 18 digs, and six blocks to lead Logan (1-8).

Tomah 3, Sparta 1

TOMAH — It was the Reis Derousseau show on Tuesday night as the senior stuffed the stat sheet recording 29 kills, seven digs, five aces, and three blocks to help lead the Timberwolves (5-3) over Sparta 24-26, 25-15, 25-14, 25-17.

Abbey Larsen had 24 assists with nine digs while Madisyn Brey had 14 digs.

Becca Jenkins had eight kills and three blocks to lead Sparta (3-6).


West Salem 3, Luther 0

WEST SALEM — Emily Steele collected 14 assists as the Panthers (11-5, 8-0) defeated Onalaska Luther 25-12, 25-8, 25-12 to remain undefeated in conference play. Sadie Miller added six kills and five aces.

G-E-T 3, Westby 2

WESTBY — Led by Sophie Severson’s 15 kills, the Red Hawks (4-4) were able to edge Westby in a hard-fought, five-set thriller, 19-25, 25-16, 24-26, 25-19, 15-13.

Jordan Hein had 45 assists while Ciera Gunderson had 25 digs to spark G-E-T Kenzie Von Ruden had 13 kills while Lauren Berg had 22 assists to lead Westby (14-8, 5-3).



Sparta 8, Tomah 1

TOMAH — Senior Turner Sund netted a hat trick, while senior Wally Barros and junior Bret Von Ruden tallied two goals apiece for the Spartans (7-3)

Logan 2, Onalaska 1

Andrew Simms scored twice for the Rangers (5-5) just before halftime, and then strong defense helped the Rangers earn the win. Logan goalie Xavier Rodriguez had six saves.

Onalaska (5-3-2) scored midway through the first half off the foot of Carson Schultz, and goalie Preston Lyon kept the Hilltoppers in the match with eight saves.

Central 2, Aquinas 0

Rayhan Siddigui scored both goals to lift the Red Rangers (3-7). Aquinas dropped to 1-9.


La Crescent 7, St. Charles/Lewiston-Altura 1

ST. CHARLES, Minn. — Freshman Amanda Iverson recorded five goals with two assists for the Lancers (9-4, 5-2). Lindsey Nelson and Morgan Loberg each added a goal while Lola Baudek recorded three assists.

Linsey Otterson recorded six saves for St.Charles/L-A (6-2, 1-4-1).


La Crosse co-op 91, Black River Falls 77

Lauren Lansing won the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.20), the 100 freestyle (57.59), and was also a part of the winning 400 relay team (4:14.16), joining Kenzie Schroeder, Gracie Gerke, and Sophie Baggett, to power the La Crosse co-op.
