ONALASKA — Drew Blaken and Andrew Scafe had a big Monday night to lead the Melrose-Mindoro High School boys basketball team to a 75-64 nonconference victory over Onalaska Luther.

Blaken had 25 points and 12 rebounds, while Scafe contributed 17 points and 16 rebounds for the Mustangs (12-4), who won their fourth game in a row and for the fifth time in their last six.

Half of Scafe’s rebounds were on the offensive end, and they helped Melrose-Mindoro build rebounding advantage of 49-34.

Blake made 9 of 16 shots, and Scafe made 7 of 15 for Melrose-Mindoro, which is still unbeaten in the Large Division of the Dairyland Conference and enjoyed its largest lead of the night at 33-19 in the first half.

The Knights (10-8) had four players double figures. Emery Byus led with 20 points. Ben Kutz and Bennett Loersch added 14 apiece, and Noah Matzke scored 11. Matzke and Loersch each had eight rebounds.

Byron 81, La Crescent 57

LA CRESCENT — Sophomore Zach Todd scored a game-high 24 points for the Lancers in the loss.

Todd made seven field goals and was 10-for-14 from the free-throw line.

Sophomore Luke Schwartzhoff added 19 points for the Lancers.

La Crescent (9-4, 10-8) trailed 43-27 at the half.



Brookwood 54, Kickapoo 38

VIOLA, Wis. — Allyson Nelson scored 21 points, and teammate Amy Berg added 15 for the Falcons (17-1), who won for the third straight time since a loss to Bangor last week.

Brookwood built a 31-14 lead after the first half and also received 14 points from Lydia Madrigal.

New Lisbon 73, De Soto 44

NEW LISBON, Wis. — Jenna Krzewinski scored a team-high 11 for the Pirates, who were down by six at the half but saw the Rockets pull away in the second.

Callie Bever and Taylor Bever combined for 36 points for New Lisbon.
